Humble with this Crumble

Thanksgiving and the holiday season are upon us, and for me that means several meals a day, and several tummy aches. One of my favorite American desserts is Apple Crumble, and so I made a crumble that makes me humble! (Hahaha I’m the worst, but its definitely the best vegan and gluten free crumble I’ve ever had, toot toot on my own horn!) Approved by both people suffering from celiac and lactose allergies, this will NOT disappoint even the most conservative relatives!

Ingredients for Filling:

  • 6 cups worth of apples, mine were from a local Maryland Farm Larriland Farms

  • Dash of lemon juice

  • 1/3 cup coconut sugar

  • 1 tbspoon cornstarch

  • 1/2 teaspoon (or more) of cinnamon

  • Pinch of pink salt

Ingredients for Crumble:

  • 1/3 cup packed coconut sugar

  • 1/4 cup coconut (or brown rice, or gluten free flour) flour

  • 1/2 cup gluten free old fashioned rolled oats, Favorite brand Bobs Red Mill

  • 1/4 cup of almond meal

  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon

  • Pinch of pink salt

  • 1/3 cup of melted coconut butter, Favorite Brand Artisana Organics

How to:

  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees and lightly grease with coconut oil, or preferred oil

  • Add apples to a large bowl or plastic bag and sprinkle with lemon, coconut sugar, cornstarch, cinnamon and salt

  • Place apples to the baking dish

  • In separate bowl add coconut sugar, flour, meal, oats, cinnamon, salt, and melted coconut butter and mix until it resembles a crumble, or wet sand chunks

  • Crumble the crumble on top of the apples in the baking dish - I prefer it to be totally covered

  • Bake until apples are soft and the crumble on top is golden ~ 40 min

  • Let rest for 10 minutes before serving

  • Serve with some vegan ice cream, and pour remaining liquid in the baking dish overtop - ITS ALL FLAVOR!

  • VOILA! Quick and easy Vegan, Gluten Free Apple Crumble!
